El-rufai: "Atiku Didn’t Spend A Dime On Buhari’s 2015 Campaign"

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Wednesday disputed claims that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was one of the major funders of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 campaign.

El-Rufai who spoke on a Voice of America (VOA) Hausa Service Programme, “Democracy Today”, challenged the former Vice President to come up with evidence to prove that he donated to Buhari’s 2015 campaign, according to TheNation.

He also said Atiku left All Progressives Congress (APC) because he has seen that with Governors’ endorsement of Buhari for second term, there was no room for him to run for president.

El-Rufai said: “We in the APC were aware from the outset that Atiku was going to leave the APC back to the PDP in December and we thank God that he left in November.

“Atiku had seen that we in the APC, especially the APC governors, had resolved to support President Muhammadu Buhari to run again in 2019. That is why he left APC since he was only looking for where to contest for president.

“Even in the 2015 APC primary election, Atiku didn’t come second; he was floored by Kwankwaso. So, even if President Buhari decides not to contest, Atiku knows that the APC ticket is not sure for him. Majority of the APC governors have endorsed President Buhari as our candidate for 2019.

“And God has continued to improve the health condition of the President. Each time I see him, I thank God and I still pray that God continues to give him sound health.

“So, by 2019, we are waiting to see Atiku contest; we are waiting to contest against him and see what happens. I cannot lose sleep because Atiku wants to contest because, by God’s grace, this is the reign of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Agreed, in politics if you lose even only one person, it should worry you, but the utterances of the former Vice President that APC used his money who did he give the money to? For me, I know those that supported us with their money and property that we used during election, and I never heard the name of Atiku that he brought a dime. If Atiku said he brought money, who did he give it to? Let him come and say it and how much did he give and what was it used for?

“And, in fact, if Atiku brought money, I ought to know, because I was part of the leadership of the party and during campaign, along with former Governor Rotimi Amaechi. We were at the centre of the presidential campaign. Therefore, we are supposed to know. So, let him mention who he gave the money and how much?

He also said only APC members who are greedy would follow Atiku to PDP.

2 Nigerian Students Sentenced To Death In Malaysia For Drug Trafficking

Two Nigerian college students Mustafa Azmir and Jude Nnamdi Achonye were on Wednesday December 20, handed the death sentence by a High Court in Shah Alam for trafficking 3.5 kilogrammes of methamphetamine.

Shah Alam High Court judge Datuk Abdul Halim Aman made the ruling after finding that the prosecution had proven a prima facie case against the accused, Azmir, 28, and Achonye, 30.

According to the criminal charge brought against them, Azmir and Achonye were accused of trafficking the drugs at an apartment in Petaling Jaya at 3.30pm on Sept 2, 2014 which is an offense under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The facts of the case stated that the accused, who studied at a private college in Kuala Lumpur, were arrested by police when they accepted several boxes containing the drug which was delivered by a courier company at the apartment.

Abdul Halim, in his ruling, said the court had studied testimonies from 13 prosecution witnesses and two defence witnesses, alongside 73 exhibits tendered during the trial.

"The defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt at the end of this case and presented no testimony that thoroughly refutes the prosecution," he said.

"Besides that, there were also discrepancies in testimonies of the accused and their defence only amounted to denial without concrete evidence," he said.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris appeared for the prosecution, while the accused were represented by lawyer Leonard Anselm Gomes.

China is set to open its first solar motorway that can generate electricity under sunlight.

China is set to open its first solar motorway that can generate electricity under sunlight.
The two-kilometre-long (1.2 miles) stretch of highway, situated in Jinan, could charge electric cars as they are travelling on it.

The two-lane road could also warm itself up in sub-zero weather to melt the snow on top - so drivers could drive on it more safely.

The high-tech photovoltaic highway comprises the southern part of the Jinan City Expressway in the provincial capital of Shandong and is expected to open by the end of December, reported People's Daily Online.

Formed with special weight-bearing solar panels, the road can hold medium-size vans and has strong friction.

Once it's completed, the highway would be connected to the power grid so it could provide electricity to the city.

The solar highway is formed with three layers.
The top layer is paved with the so-called 'transparent concrete', which is said to be as strong as the traditional road-surfacing material, asphalt concrete.

The middle layer is the power-generating layer consisting of solar panels.
The bottom layer is the insulation layer which separates the photovoltaic system from the damp earth.

The highway is built by Qilu Transportation Development Group, a state-owned company in charge of the transport infrastructure of Shandong Province, according to Jiemian News.

In September, the group completed China's first solar road, also in Jinan, after 10 months of construction. The road is fitted with 660 square metres (7,104 square feet) of photovoltaic panels and has been connected to the power grid.

Last December, France unveiled the world's first solar panel road in the small Normandy village of Tourouvre-au-Perche.

The 1km (0.6-mile) stretch of road is paved with 2,880 photovoltaic panels, covering an area of 2,800 square metres (9,186 square feet).

The road is expected to produce 280 MWh of electricity a year - enough to power the village's street lights.

Innocent Chukwuma Flown To Lagos In Shorts

Innoson boss flown to Lagos in shorts, released on bail

•Released on bail last night
•Senate wades in as Ohanaeze youths, IPOB, Igbo groups condemn arrest
•Say it’s meant to scuttle industrialisation of Igboland
•Workers protest intimidation, harassment of their chairman

ENUGU— ON a day waves of condemnation trailed his arrest, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, flew Chairman of Innoson Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, to Lagos in shorts, according to one of his aides.

Chief Chukwuma, was however, released, last night. EFCC which confirmed the release said the Innoson boss was arrested for alleged tax fraud and forgery.

The agency flew him to Lagos wearing only shorts and a shirt through Air Peace flight that left Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, at 1:45pm.

founder and chairman of Nigeria’s automobile company, Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma.
Founder and chairman of Nigeria’s automobile company, Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma.
Chukwuma was driven in a convoy from the EFCC Enugu office where he was detained after his forcible arrest at his Enugu residence, Tuesday.

A staff of Innoson Company said the businessman was neither allowed to take his bath nor change his wears since he was arrested by the EFCC on Tuesday morning.

Head, Corporate Communications of Innoson Group, Cornel Osigwe, in a statement in Enugu, yesterday, maintained that Chukwuma is not a criminal and was never invited by the EFCC before the arrest.

Osigwe denied that Chukwuma was being investigated by the Capital Market and Insurance Fraud Unit of the commission’s Lagos office and challenged the EFCC to prove its invitation to Chukwuma which he failed to honour that necessitated invasion of his residence.

He also said Chukwuma never jumped any administrative bail or made attempts at resisting arrest as claimed by the EFCC, adding that “Dr Chukwuma (OFR) is a law abiding citizen, a public figure and a well known industrialist of international repute. He couldn’t have been invited by the EFCC and he would ignore or refuse to honour the invitation.”

Osigwe further said: “Dr Chukwuma has never had any issues or query from the EFCC recently.

How the issue started — Innoson group

The last issue he had with EFCC was an invitation extended to him in 2012 based on a complaint against him by Guaranty Trust Bank, GTB, which he duly honoured.

“Upon completion of investigations, EFCC requested him through a letter to pay some money to GTB, saying the money was what Innoson owed GTB after it, EFCC, deducted excess charge of about N560 million, which GTB illegally and unlawfully took from their account.

‘’Innoson rejected the demand, maintaining that it was GTB that was owing him and that GTB is to pay interest on the excess and unlawful charges.

‘’This resulted in a stalemate between Innoson and EFCC. Consequently, Innoson commenced a lawsuit against GTB at Federal High Court in suit No: FHC/AWK/139/2012 at Federal High Court Awka division and, thereafter, got a judgement in its favour in the sum of N4.7 billion against GTB.

“As a consequence of the above, EFCC filed a charge against him at Lagos High Court. The charge was subsequently struck out after EFCC filed a notice of discontinuance.

‘’However, Dr Innocent Chukwuma and Innoson Nigeria Ltd appealed against the order striking out the case on the basis that it ought to be dismissed and not struck out.

‘’The appeal, no: CA/I/1330Cm/2017, till date, is still pending at the Court of Appeal, Lagos State. Since then, EFCC has never invited Dr Chukwuma again.

Challenge to EFCC

“We challenge EFCC to show proof and evidence of EFCC invitation extended to Dr Chukwuma, the various dates of the invitation and the letter of invitation extended to him.

‘’We further challenge EFCC to also show proof of how and when Dr Chukwuma jumped an administrative bail granted to him.

“EFCC also claimed that Dr Chukwuma is being investigated by the Capital Market and Insurance Fraud Unit of the commission’s Lagos office. We equally challenge EFCC to show proof of this investigation.

‘’On whose petition is this investigation being carried out and proof of any letter on this investigation ever written to Innoson from this unit, stating also the month and year.

“The commission’s being economical with the truth by stating that Dr Chukwuma mobilised six truckloads of thugs pretending to be staff of his company to his residence, where they manhandled EFCC operatives.

‘’The truth available at our disposal is that some factory workers on hearing that their boss was being arrested, mobilised themselves to his residence to protest what they said was an illegal arrest.

“However, the EFCC operatives together with the Police team, fired tear gas and dispersed them. We have pictures to back up our claim. At no point did these factory workers manhandle the armed EFCC and Police officials at his residence. This is pure falsehood aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Dr Innocent Chukwuma.

“EFCC as a law-abiding organisation and a strong advocate of rule of law as constantly shown and practised by its Head, led by Ibrahim Magu, should allow the court processes to reach their logical conclusion.

‘’Dr Chukwuma’s case against GTB is already at the Supreme Court. We have absolute faith in the Nigeria judiciary. They should be allowed to adjudicate over this matter without undue interference from any quarters, he said.”

Why we arrested him — EFCC

We’ve released him, we arrested him for fraud, forgery – EFCC

Meanwhile, the EFCC, yesterday night, said it had released Chukwuma on bail. EFCC, in a statement by its Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said it arrested the business man over matters bordering on N1.478 billion fraud and forgery.

The statement read in part: ‘’The business man who runs a local auto assembly plant was arrested on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at his Enugu residence, following his refusal to respond to invitations by the Commission, after initially being granted administrative bail by the Commission, while his surety could also not be found.

“Unfortunately the industrialist resisted arrest and stirred controversy by bringing six truck-loads of thugs to block the entrance to his Plot W1, Industrial Layout, Abakaliki Road, Emeni, Enugu, home.

This was after he initially misled the Police Command by informing them that his home had been invaded by armed robbers and kidnappers despite the fact that operatives of the Commission duly identified themselves to policemen guarding his home.

His unruly thugs encircled and manhandled operatives of the Commission who had gone to effect the arrest.

Consequently, a distress call was sent to the Commission’s Enugu Office for reinforcement.

In all of this, the Commission’s operatives acted with decorum and civility. No one was manhandled or assaulted by the EFCC team, and not a single shot was fired, despite the provocation.

Chief Chukwuma and his brother, Charles Chukwuma (who is still at large), are being investigated by the Insurance and Capital Market Fraud Section of the Commission’s office in Lagos over matters bordering on N1,478,366, 859.66 fraud and forgery.

The industrialist, among other infractions, allegedly used forged documents to secure tax waivers.’’

Senators, Igbo groups react

Dr Chukwuma’s arrest drew criticisms from senators and a host of Igbo groups, yesterday.

Igbo groups that condemned Chief Chukwuma’s arrest included the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB; Igbo Youth Movement, IYM; Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA; Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT; Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC; and Igbo National Council, INC.

Indeed, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, who is IYM founder, ECA secretary and ILT deputy secretary, described the arrest of the Innoson CEO as ‘’endless humiliation of a conquered people’’ noting that the commando style of the arrest was ‘’causing ripples all over Igboland.’’

He said: ‘’The alleged legal issues he has with a commercial bank is also said to be in court. The power-show displayed on Tuesday in Enugu by EFCC’s Ibrahim Magu is a loud statement to the Igbo Nation that we are perceived as slaves in Nigeria.

The total disregard for the ongoing court actions and a resort to military era abductions confirm to all, that Ndigbo remain endangered species in Nigeria.

“To arrest the greatest employer of labour in Igboland and a genius who has transformed the economic landscape of this clime, in the area of automobile manufacturing, in a humiliating manner at his residence in Enugu, ostensibly over issues with a bank, issues which lawyers are handling. This is a loud message to the people of Eastern Nigeria of our status in Nigeria.’’

IPOB

Also, the IPOB, in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, condemned what it described as ‘’ongoing harassment of notable Biafran businesmen especially those of Igbo extraction by the Nigerian Government and her security agencies.’’

It said not contented with ‘’the economic emasculation of the Biafran territories through decades of punitive policies, the few successful businessmen that made it against all odds like Chief Innocent Chukwuma, the owner of Innoson Motors is now being harassed and humiliated publicly by government agencies for three major reasons: the impotency of political leadership in the East, coupled with intellectual myopia of the governing class and ongoing policy of de-industrialisation of the East.

“Had Innoson sited his factory in Lagos or Kaduna, every possible line of credit would have been extended to him; and there would be politics of appeasement and sabotage of collective interest by Ohanaeze Ndigbo, PANDEF and similar interest groups.’

‘’Since the emergence of this Buhari regime, Biafrans of Igbo extraction have been lurching from one persecution to another. After Operation Python Dance which had the backing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership and South East governors, the Buhari regime has turned it’s attention to the destruction of economic interests in the South East starting with Innoson Motors, in the hope of frustrating the first indigenous automobile company in West Africa because he opened his factory in Igboland,’’ it added.

Ohanaeze youths demand Chukwuma’s release

In its reaction, the Ohanaeze Youth Council, in a statement by Comrade Obinna Achionye and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, Vice President and Secretary, demanded the immediate release of the business mogul and described his arrest as the height of impunity against the Igbo nation and another move to cripple the economic fortunes of Ndigbo.

The youths stated that they were worried over the clampdown on Chukwuma without proper invitation by the anti-corruption agency, warning that there will be massive protests by Igbo and other ethnic nationalities’ youth groups in Enugu, Abuja and Lagos, if the businessman was not released without further delay.

Workers protest

Meantime, hundreds of workers of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company in Nnewi, protested the arrest and detention of their chairman by the EFCC.

The workers, who blocked the Uru Umudim Nnewi, Innoson Industrial Layout Nnewi, chanted anti-intimidation and harassment songs.

“Addressing newsmen, leader of the protesting Innoson workers, Mr. Okwudili Igwemma said: “Most industrialists and their businesses have gone down because of what they have gone through in the hand of some banks, most of them did not get back what they used as collaterals, like lands and buildings, to borrow money from banks, even when they had repaid the bank loans, this is not good for the image of Nigerian banks.”

He recalled that “Chief Chukwuma, last week, unveiled four brand new sets of vehicles, namely IVM G80, IVM G40, IVM 20 and IVM Granite, and while delivering his address, said the only way a manufacturing company like his can succeed in what it is doing to uplift the image of Nigeria is by government, corporate institution and the public, patronizing and supporting it.’’

Senate wades in, sets up committee

The Senate, yesterday, resolved to wade into Chukwuma’s arrest by the EFCC, following a point of order raised by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

“Yesterday, I got a number of messages indicating that Mr Innocent Chukwuma was arrested by the EFCC over a transaction between him and GTB,” Mr. Ekweremadu said: “This morning (yesterday morning) I made an effort and I spoke with him, his story is straight forward. He said he was at his house at 5:00 am, Tuesday morning, when he heard gun shots and he thought they were assassins and so he went into hiding after about two hours he saw some police and he thought that help had come.

“So, he came out of his hiding and ran to the police man who promptly arrested him. As he was trying to find out what was his offence, they told him when they get to the police station they will inform him of the offence. As at today, nobody has told him what the offence is.

“Any person who is arrested and detained should be informed the reason for his arrest. As I speak, Mr Innoson Chukwuma is yet to be informed of what led to his arrest or detention but if you go through the media today, the story is that he is owing GTB. As a lawyer, I’m at a loss how a transaction between someone and his bank will inform the EFCC’s arrest.
What Innoson boss told me — Ekweremadu

“The story he told me is that he is not owing the bank anything, he borrowed money from the bank which he has since repaid but the bank kept charging money and withdrawing it from his account. They set up an audit and the auditor came to a conclusion that they had deducted more than N500 million, he was insisting on 22 per cent, the bank said they will pay 7 per cent.

“So, that was where they had the disagreement and they now went to court and it gave judgement in their favour at the federal high court and the Court of Appeal and the matter is at the Supreme Court. The fact that the matter is in court and it was a commercial transaction gives no room for the intervention of EFCC. I’d like to appeal to this Senate to ensure that Mr Innocent Chukuwma is released promptly.”

In his contribution, Sam Anyanwu, Imo-PDP, questioned the Senate’s silence over alleged continued impunity of the EFCC.

“I want to ask a question. EFCC as it stands today, does it have a chairman? Because I knew in this chamber, the head of EFCC was rejected during screening because of poor performance and yet he has been there as chairman.

“There was a businessman from Imo State that was killed in EFCC custody. The body is still in the mortuary till today. These are the kind of things we are seeing in this country, why must we allow it to continue?

“We have been talking about promoting made-in-Nigeria goods. This man manufactures vehicles, he has over 5, 000 people in his employment, he has international partners. What are you projecting before them? That he is a criminal? If we as Senate allows this to continue, there is nothing else that will ever work.

“We rejected somebody here, yet he is allowed. Are there no other Nigerians who are credible to fight corruption?”

How EFCC official slapped Chukwuma’s wife — Abaribe

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Abia-PDP, threw the Senate into a rowdy session when he announced that operatives of EFCC slapped the wife of Mr. Chukwuma.

“Another incident happened in his house. The wife asked a question; why are you arresting my husband? What has happened and they slapped her.”

Bwacha Emmanuel, Taraba-PDP, said the perpetrator of such act should be fished out and punished.

“As a member of this Senate, I sponsored a motion to call for support for the anti-corruption war but as I listen to this story, if truly the wife of Innocent Chukwuma was slapped by a member of EFCC, something has to be done. Somebody must be held responsible, somebody must lose his job. Otherwise, we’ll be wasting our time here.”

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, noted that the EFCC will drag the country into ridicule if the issue is not addressed promptly.

“As a society, we are all planning that our country be civilised, I think this does not speak well of the country. How a private commercial transaction has now become the focus of the EFCC. I think this area is the focus. Whether he is owing or not, I think we must be seen protecting the fundamental rights of citizens. I’ve never seen where FBI interfered between City Bank and Ford Motors, or the financial crime agency in UK intervenes. We are just making a mockery of ourselves and we really should be able to do the right thing.”

The Senate resolved to intervene in the arrest of Mr. Chukwuma, while mandating its committee on anti-corruption and financial crimes to investigate the matter and report back in 24 hours

Don't Be Deceived, Sex Is Marriage

1 Corinthians 6:16 ” Do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one flesh with her? For, as it is written, “The two shall become one.”

Genesis 2:24
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Matthew 19:5
and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?

Ephesians 5:31
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.

In Islamic law, marriage is called nikah, an Arabic word whose original literal meaning is "sexual intercourse", but which already in the Quran is used exclusively to refer to the contract of marriage.

It is very saddening that man's philosophy and cultural beliefs have made the world deviate from the truth from the very words of the scriptures talking about the Bible and even Quran.

Today we see men and ladies randomly sleeping with one another, safe sex is even promoted with the use of condom,we see baby mamas and daddies springing up and when you ask them about their marital status they say they are single because to them, marriage has a different meaning.

There was no place in the scriptures where GOD commanded us to go to registry, religious houses or to certain families to pay bride price (The Bride price mentioned in the bible was a punishment for raping a virgin).

But what exactly did GOD command about the way a marriage should take place?

God gave us 3 clear stages of marriage. .
1.A man leaving his parents and this happens when you decide to be with a woman and you leave your parents to start your own family.

2.Unites with his wife:You can choose how you unite which is the wedding ceremony and this can be done in accordance with laid down rules of the government or traditions/cultures as well as religious organizations.

3.Becoming one is the third stage which involves having sex with each other.

GOD himself commanded this in Genesis and Jesus repeated it in the book of Mathew. When you have sex with anyone, you are becoming one with such and automatically fulfilling the essence of marriage which is becoming one with whoever you have sex with.

Unfortunately, people just sleep around today in ignorance of the fact that they are fulfilling the third and most important stage of marriage. The world have been deceived by Satan to believe that marriage is when you do the paparazzi and you pay bride price and so on but all these moves are the second stage which is uniting to your spouse.

I know this article may not change the act of illicit sex but next time you open your legs to any guy or when next you sleep with any lady, just know in your heart that you are fulfilling the third stage of marriage as commanded by GOD.

I know this definitely makes sense.

CBN Withholds $5bn Illegally — Reps

The House of Representatives said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is hiding $5 billion and failed to declare same to the federation.

The House yesterday said the amount was as a result of the 0.25 per cent deductions from all foreign-denominated revenue as ‘exchange commission,’ for converting dollars to naira.

The House said even after making the deductions, the balance credited to the federation account at various times have been in negative difference, running into billions of naira per year.

It also said the office of the Accountant General of the Federation failed to report the infractions of under-remittance of millions of dollars and trillions of naira into the federation account by the CBN.

Adopting a motion by Ayo Omidiran (APC, Osun), the House resolved to constitute an adhoc panel to investigate the matter and report back within eight weeks.

The House said the CBN, instead of embarking on its statutory role of receiving financial in-flows on behalf of the federation, now goes a step further to usurp the powers of the accountant general by preparing the federation account.

The lawmakers said the apex bank uses the opportunity “to manipulate the system by opening various accounts not known to the three tiers of government, where funds are remitted, hidden, diverted and spent without authorization.”

The House said in 2006, the apex bank opened various accounts with JP Morgan Chase Bank in New York in which IOCs remit revenues and that it still operates an account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to date.

Meanwhile, CBN said in a statement last night by its Acting Director Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor, that allegation that the apex bank diverted the said amount was ‘untrue’.

FG Probes Jonathan Over N8.68bn Textbooks Contract..

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has ordered the immediate investigation of a contract awarded under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan for the distribution of books to schools across the country.

Government, in August 2013, had awarded contract worth N8.68 billion for the printing and distribution of textbooks as well as library materials for public primary schools’ classes one to six and junior secondary schools.

FEC, which commenced yesterday at about 11a.m. shortly after the swearing-in of seven Permanent Secretaries at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The meeting was rescheduled to continue today.
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who briefed State House correspondents after the meeting, said however that Council resolved to investigate dthe istribution of textbooks to schools in the country between 2009 and 2011.
Amaechi said it would be done before commencement of distribution of N6.9 billion textbooks for schools in the country.

The Minister of Transport said Council approved production and distribution of core textbooks for early education classes 1-3 and for primary 4-6 in public schools nationwide.
He said: “The Federal Government felt there is a need to support in funding education, not just the instruction, but also the individuals who occupy the institution at the cost of N6.9 billion

“Council also gave approval for Jos Central Library and the construction of the Faculty of Animal Sciences and Engineering.

“For Ministry of Transport, we had approval for two vessels called Pilot Cutters to escort vessels into the seaport. Prior to this, we were hiring. Now we have approval for NPA to buy theirs at the cost of N1.9 billion.
“Also, council approved another two vessels of 17 meters in the eastern port that will help monitor and assist vessels into the seaport at the cost of N1.2 billion.

“Council also approved the award of contract for direct procurement of installation and commissioning of Wide Area of multilateration for the Gulf of Guinea at the cost of N3.9 billion. This is to help capture those equipment flying below the radar, for us to be able to pick them because it will be dangerous if we cannot because a lot of them use helicopters.

“There was also an approval for the consultancy services to construct a new terminal building at Mallam Aminu Kano Airport. We just want to complete the payment, which is N621 million.

“Council also approved the purchase of flight calibration inspection at the cost of N111.6 million.
“One other key project that was approved is the engagement of consultants for the project management, monitoring and evaluation including media and public relations services of the UNEP report.”

Council also approved over N377.5 billion for infrastructure projects, which include roads, power, education, water, health among others.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, while giving details on this, said that the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano project will cost N155.7 billion and is expected to be completed within three years. Efire-Araromi-Aiyede-Aiyela road to connect Ondo and Ogun states at a cost of N14.4 billion.

Withdrawal Of $1bn From ECA Exposed Tinubu, Amaechi, El-Rufai - Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has reacted to the position of Zamfara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Abdulazeez Yari on the $1billion withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account.

Omokri said Yari’s statement on the sum said to be for the fight against insurgency and insecurity across the country has exposed the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and All Progressives Congress, APC, national leader, Bola Tinubu as liars.

Yari had stated that the decision to allow the Federal Government access the money was a collective one by the forum in regards to security of Nigerians which is a top priority.

Reacting to Yari’s statement, Omokri said the governor’s comment has put him and the APC to ridicule.

In a statement he personally signed, Omokri maintained that Yari’s statement has shown that APC members are “a patently dishonest bunch with no credibility whatsoever.”

The statement reads, “In an attempt to justify the dubious process by which $1 Billion was taken from the Excess Crude Account by the Federal Government ostensibly to fund an anti terror war with the same Boko Haram that the Buhari administration said was ‘finished’ and ‘technically defeated’, the Zamfara state Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum made some startling revelations which has exposed him to ridicule and further shown that his party, the All Progressive Congress, and its members, are a patently dishonest bunch with no credibility whatsoever.

“Speaking yesterday (Tuesday 19th December, 2017) at Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Alhaji Yari said of the $1 Billion withdrawal as follows:

“This thing (ECA withdrawal) has been done in 2014 where $2bn was withdrawn in agreement with the governors at that meeting. Governor Akpabio was the one that moved the motion. This is not the first time a decision like this is being taken. It happened during Jonathan’s era when they took $2bn. We all agreed at that time collectively in the same chamber to withdraw $2bn to procure equipment for the military and also for logistics for the military. That was what generated discussions at the same chamber and there was no controversy and no opposition to the decision at that time.”

“Notice from this statement that Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, an APC member, is now admitting that he and his colleagues in the APC all agreed to the withdrawal of $2 billion from the Excess Crude Account that was made in 2014. Note further that he said there was no controversy and no opposition to the decision taken in 2014.

“However, Nigerians may recall that at the material time when this incident occurred, both the All Progressive Congress and its prominent members like the then Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, the then Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, and their National Leader, Bola Tinubu, denied that there was ever any agreement with the Jonathan administration over the withdrawals and publicly attacked the then President and accused him of looting and other forms of corruption.

“In fact, in 2015, when the former Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala said exactly what Governor Yari has been forced to admit to, Governor Nasir El-Rufai (who was not even a governor in 2014 and was not present at the meeting Governor Yari has described) called Dr. Mrs. Iweala a liar and described her as ‘morally flexible’.

“Then on the 1st of July, 2015, then Governor Adams Oshiomhole was interviewed on Channels television and described as untrue the statement by Dr. Mrs. Iweala that the governors under the aegis of the National Economic Council agreed to the withdrawal of $2 billion from the Excess Crude Account and called the process by which the money was withdrawn by the Jonathan administration as an “administrative arrangement not known to the constitution”.

“Only as recently as last week, the fallacious Rotimi Amaechi repeated the falsehood that neither he nor his colleagues were ever consulted or gave their acquiescence before the Jonathan administration withdrew funds from the Excess Crude Account.

“Again, at the material time in 2014, when the Jonathan administration tried to explain why it needed the funds to fight the same Boko Haram insurgents that the Buhari government claimed has been technically defeated, the APC released a statement and ‘described as disingenuous and sheer blackmail the argument that the money is for national security or that it would facilitate the release of the over 200 school girls who were abducted about 100 days ago.’

“The APC spokesman, Lai Mohammed, who is now the minister of information further said “putting more money in the hands of an incompetent and massively corrupt administration can only encourage more incompetence and corruption. Not done, Mr. Lai Mohammed also claimed that the monies then President Jonathan was seeking was meant to be used to impeach APC Governors and rig the 2015 elections.

“His exact words were “With the Jonathan Administration allegedly spending or setting aside an average of 2 billion Naira to impeach each Governor of APC states, and the PDP-led Administration using the common wealth to bribe voters in a desperate bid to win elections at all costs. Not to be outdone, the National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, called the request by the Jonathan administration “dubious”.

“But in keeping with the principle that no matter how far and fast falsehood has traveled, it must eventually be overtaken by truth, Governor Abdulaziz Yari has now vindicated both former President Jonathan and the former minister of finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, by admitting in 2017 that both he and his colleagues (which included Rotimi Amaechi and Adams Oshiomhole) actually agreed with the Jonathan administration to withdrew $2 billion from the Excess Crude Account in 2014.

“I therefore call on the Nigerian public and the international community to note that the APC and its members all lack credibility and are willing to say anything at anytime to justify their political position irrespective of whether it is true or false.”

About 87 People Enter Lagos Per Hour On Daily Basis ―commissioner

LAGOS State government on Tuesday expressed worries over the rising housing deficit in the state which it puts at three million units.

Commissioner for Housing, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, disclosed this at the second Real Estate Stakeholders’ Forum held at the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, pointing out that about 87 people per hour entered Lagos on daily basis.

Lawal said the fact that Lagos is Nigeria economic nerves centre had made it susceptible to influx of people which he noted had in turn put continuous pressures on the state’s infrastructures.

“About 87 people per hour enter Lagos on daily basis. This has led to unusual pressure on land and housing infrastructural facilities. And these have even led to the inadequate housing and increased number of slums in the state. Today, the state has about three million units of housing deficit. But in the next four years, we planned to provide 20,000 units of houses in the next four years,” Gbolahan said.

The commissioner, however, disclosed that the administration had appointed facilities managers for both it’s old and news housing estates, saying that with such appointments, the tide of continuous depreciation in values of such houses would be stemmed.

Special Adviser on Housing, Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, in her remark, decried the negative effect of the fraudulent real estate practices on the state economy.

“It is instructive to state here that the world over, fraudulent practices is age long issue, since we are all humans, such acts are to be expected in our day-to-day activities or daily relationship.

“Real estate fraud is when an individual or agency uses false information or misrepresents the information for any Real Estate Transaction. Such activities have adverse effects on economic activities in the state,” Akinsola said.

Man Brutally Beats Wife To Coma Then Shows Her Pictures To His Friends To Boast (Photos)

Maxim Gribanov, Russian man, is now facing a 16-year prison sentence after he beat his wife,

Anastasia Oviannikova, into a coma, filming it so that he could show off to his friends.

Anastasia Oviannikova died six days after the horrific attack at the hands of Maxim Gribanov in Lebedyan, western Russia.

He struck her repeatedly to prove that he had her ‘under control’ when she told him that she wanted to leave him.

Pictures from the brutal attack show her on a sofa with bruises across her entire body. When she was taken to hospital, Anastasia, 28, was found to have severe bruising, internal bleeding and several broken bones.

She slipped into a coma and as a result of such horrific injuries she never woke up and died six days later.

A family friend said: ‘She was so full of hope and fun but this man destroyed her life. He should be treated in the same way as he treated her.’
Gribanov kicked and punched her repeatedly over a course of several hours then showed the footage to his friends.

Anastasia’s friends said that she had met someone new and was trying to build up the courage to leave her violent husband, who had forced her to quit her town hall job.

However, after suffering years of abuse, bullying and intimidation she was too scared to leave him in fear of what he would do.

He even threatened her brother and father if they reported him or if they tried to stop him from beating Anastasia.

Yulia Kuznetzova, a police spokeswoman, said: ‘At first the man was charged with assault which caused severe damages to the woman’s health.
‘But after she died and the charges were changed. The suspect pleaded partially guilty. He said he had his reasons.’

I Used To Smoke, Had Girlfriends But Never Tasted Alcohol - President Buhari

In this concluding part of the interview President Muhammadu Buhari granted Eric Osagie, The SunMD/Editor-in-Chief in company of Paulinus Aidoghie in 2012, he explains why he is not super rich despite being former Head of State.
Read some excerpts from the interview below:
President Buhari: I used to smoke, but of course, I abandoned it I think in 1977.
Oh really? Before you became head of state?
President Buhari: Yes, I stopped smoking.
Have you ever taken alcohol?
President Buhari: No.
Never?
President Buhari: Never.
Even as a young man and all that?
President Buhari: No, no. Even in the military tradition, how they break you in, I said well, the military did not stop anybody practising his religion. My religion said no alcohol and no alcohol. So, that was respected. I was never forced to take alcohol and I have never voluntarily taken it because I want to remain alert all the time. There is a tendency that when you drink, you would want to have a bottle more, or a glass more and do something stupid.
As a young man, very handsome because I saw some of your old pictures, did you have women flocking around you? And women like soldiers, people who have power…
I also thought women ought to have taken more interest in me but I don’t know why they didn’t. I must have something they didn’t like. I assure you of that. I didn’t drink, I smoked, I had girlfriends; it was true.
How many did you have?
President Buhari: I hope you won’t publish this because my wife will read the interview. So, you will be very kind to me if you don’t publish that (general laughter).
You joined the army and there was coup and counter-coup and civil war. You still had time to unwind?
You can create it but we had too much eventful time, professional career. It was too eventful. There were too many things happening almost at the same time. If I could recall, the 30 months civil war that we had, I was just having two weeks after every six months to come back home just to see my old mother and some of my relatives because I refused to get married till after the war.
Was it deliberate?
President Buhari: It was deliberate.
Why? I thought that would have been the reason to get married.
President Buhari: No, no. Some of our colleagues, like late Vatsa, like Babangida, they were more adventurous than myself. They took a weekend and had a quick marriage and went back to the front. I thought I would be putting the poor girl or the poor woman under a lot of stress. So, I said if I survived the war, I would get married, but if I didn’t survive, no woman should cry for me other than my relatives.
Some of your General-colleagues became stupendously rich. Today, they have means. I am not a lawyer taking inventory of your assets or preparing your will, but tell me what property do you have now at 70? I am sure you have a house in Abuja, you have one in Lagos. You have one in Daura and you have one here (Kaduna). So, if I count your property, maybe five. Am I right or wrong?
You are right but am not going to read or declare with you. My assets were on record, I told some of your colleagues when they came. When Murtala/Obasanjo regime came, they made sure that certain grades of public officers must declare their assets when they assumed that office and they must declare when they were leaving. So, when I was sworn in as governor of North East, I declared my assets.
