OJB Finally Back In Nigeria!

Finally, seasoned producer, OJB Jezreel has landed in Nigeria months after undergoing a successful kidney transplant in India.
Jezreel, who was earlier expected to return on Saturday, 7th December 2013, according to what I just learnt, actually breezed in on Thursday, 5th December 2013.

His return at an earlier date was arranged to make it a surprise for everyone.

Sources say Jezreel is being lodged now in a hotel at an undisclosed, secret location, not far from his Surulere, Lagos residence.
This also was to allow him have enough rest as he recuperates, to avoid him being disturbed by fans who anxiously looked forward to receive him.

The music producer returned with his wife, Mabel Okungbowa, who donated one of her kidneys to save him.

Chocolate City Vs. Brymo: Case Adjourned Till January 2014

Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos where the case between Chocolate City vs Brymo has been adjourned to Tuesday January 14, 2014.

The legal battle between Chocolate City Entertainment and its estranged artiste Ashimi Olawale Ibrahim aka Brymo is far from over as the case was on December 5, 2013 adjourned till January 14, 2014. The case which was supposed to be heard at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos was suspended because the presiding judge Justice Bubba was unexplainably absent.

Our correspondent who was there at the court gathered that neither Brymo nor his counsel were available for the hearing. Choc City’s counsel, C.O. Madubuko from L and A Legal Consultants was however present.

This will be the second time that the case will be adjourned after an earlier November 11, 2013 adjournment.

Chocolate City’s is suing Brymo for alleged contract infringement.

Majid Michel Joins The Louis Vuitton Club, Kanye West May Be Upset With This…

Few days ago, Majid Michel landed in Nigeria for the 2013 AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) nominations ceremony, holding tight to his new found love-a Louis Vuitton traveling bag which sort of represents his initiation into the LV Club…

And considering the fact that Kanye West just asked his fans and others to pull a ‘no patronise on LV’, we are sure he will be pretty upset with Majid Michel if he sees this photo—that is if he even knows who the heck he his…

The bag looks ermmmm!

My Alleged Sex Tape Turned Into A Blessing For Me- Chidinma

Here is what the MTN Project fame winner said about her alleged sex tape and how it made her more famous.

I woke up one morning and I was greeted on the internet with ‘Chidinma and sex tape’. I was worried primarily because of my mother. I didn’t let her see the video but I had to show her the photos. I didn’t want to go out that day. I couldn’t go out. But my mum felt otherwise. She told me to ignore the mischief makers. I almost took some actions but I thought against it.

I met Sound Sultan on a set. He told me, ‘Babe, you are now a star. I welcome you officially into the industry.’ I trended for three days. Even people who didn’t know me got to know me. My fan base grew. And then, I was happy because more than 90 per cent of the public didn’t believe I was the one in that video.

There were people who didn’t need to see the video to believe I couldn’t have done such thing. I am just grateful to everyone who didn’t believe the story. My twitter account was hacked and the people created another account. They kept releasing nasty pictures and they were even responding to the tweets as if I was the one doing it. I was just watching and laughing. It put me in the spotlight. I used it for good.

Ever since I started, I have been scared of scandals. I didn’t want to have any. But I realised that I cannot run away from it. It is just normal. It is not everybody who is happy seeing me rise. Some people are trying to do something to stop me. But sex tape is not enough to stop me.

They should bring up something else. The sex tape just took me to another level in my career. It moved me up. This is no more ‘little’ Chidinma. It didn’t bring me down in any way. I am still doing a lot of things.

The Palaver That Killed Justus Esiri Exposed

Veteran actor, Justus Esiri, may have finally died on Monday, February 18, 2013 – as a result of complications arising from diabetes and stroke. But before then, there was one other issue that was silently eating up the 70-year-old father and grandfather. It was an uncompleted film project he had begun work on about seven years ago.
Centred on some of the nefarious activities going on in the Niger Delta, the militants first warned him against embarking on it. But before then, he had also been having a running battle with the director of the film, Ifeanyi Onyeabor.
Not only did he battle him till he died, trying to get the master tape, those that provided the funds with which the high-budget project was embarked upon were also on his neck. “It was in the midst of that, that the man suffered the first stroke about a year and a half ago. He had even begun recovering little by little when the second one, which claimed his life, occurred”, explained one close family member.
The title of the film which Esiri didn’t eventually get to see its final copy is The Way We Are, and among the stars in it are Segun Arinze and Gbenga Richard. One of those who took part in it corroborated this. According to him: “Till the man died, he kept lamenting and lamenting about the misfortunes the film brought his way”
Esiri, who we also gathered was diabetic, was part of the Nollywood Delegation that visited President Goodluck Jonathan after the death of his brother, Chief Meni Jonathan .He was also supposed to be at the thanksgiving service of the First Lady, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan, on Sunday, February 17, until death decided otherwise.
The gifted and gregarious actor will be eternally remembered for his role in Village Headmaster. Married to Omiete and blessed with six children (Ophlia, Ejiro, Justus Jnr., Sidney, Andrew and Tobor), among his movies that will continually be evergreen are Wasted Years, The Price, Six Demons and Forever.
His burial details are yet to be made public.

During the church wedding, officials of the Guinnes Book of World Records acknowledged that they have never had any record or history of twins’ marriage in Africa.
Big congrats to the husbands and wives!

Outrage Greets FG’s “7-Years Jail Term /N5million Fine” For Social Media Critics.

Criticism on Wednesday greeted the bill by the Senate seeking a seven-year jail term for social media critics found guilty of inciting the public against the Federal Government.
The controversial bill, which reportedly has scaled through the second reading in the upper legislative chamber, is also proposing a stiffer punishment for Internet fraudsters and scammers. Such swindlers will also face seven years imprisonment.
Section 13 sub-section 3 of the bill proposes, “Anyone, who intentionally propagates false information that could threaten the security of the country or that is capable of inciting the general public against the government through electronic message shall be guilty of an offence and upon conviction shall be sentenced to seven years imprisonment or N5m (fine).”
The Senate President, David Mark, represented by the Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Abu Ibrahim, (APC, Katsina), declared open the public hearing of the bill on Tuesday.
According to Mark, electronic fraudsters posed a great danger to the country and so there is the need to tackle their activities in order to attract foreign investment.
The committee chairman Senator Umaru Dahiru (PDP, Sokoto), also noted that electronic fraud was a threat to world economies and Nigeria being a developing economy should enact appropriate laws to deal with the challenges.
Although the bill has yet to be enacted, for Nigerians on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, the consensus is that it simply amounts to an attempt to silence the voice of the people.
Already, social media perceptive Nigerians, who are not taking the lawmakers’ plan lightly, have swung into action to thwart what they described as plans by the government to silence the voice of the people.
Indeed, Victor Mbidi, a social media analyst, Online Editor and Presenter at Channels Television, hosted a G+ Hangout on Wednesday, where he urged Nigerians to share their thoughts on the “infamous” bill. The hangout, which was free and open to all, witnessed a large participation. It also featured live voice and video conversations.
It is therefore not surprising that the social media frenzy has begun. Trust Nigerians, who do not take issues that border on their freedom of expression lightly, they have already begun changing their Twitter biographies and handles to reflect their angst against the proposal.
A ‘visual stroll’ along Twitter also reveals that some other persons have since changed their Avatars to reflect the situation at hand. Little wonder, images with the inscription, ‘NASS, leave our social media alone,’ are taking over their timelines.
While this is not be the first time that lawmakers or government agency will be moving to censor the social media fora in the country, the latest action by NASS appears to be the icing on the cake.
The Bureau of Public Enterprise in September said it planned to draw up possible regulations for the use of social media in the country.
The Director-General of the agency, Benjamin Dikki, revealed that the bureau would apply its authority to regulate materials uploaded on the various social media platforms.
“In line with its reform mandate, the bureau plans to initiate necessary policies and the legal framework for the regulation of the social media in the country,” Chigbo Anichebe, head of the Bureau’s public communication, had said in a statement. However, very little of no attention was paid to the announcement.
The latest move by the National assembly comes as a rude shock to Nigerians who are active on new media forums, leading to a massive outrage.
Comments have been pouring in torrents from the likes of Popular Afrobeat artiste, Seun Kuti, who simply asked, “How many years for una wey dey government wey dey steal our future(money)? Well me I am ready for una seven years for saying the truth.”
Also, Jayla Peperempe, in a tweet said, “I actually think this law is mostly for them Dino Melaye, El-Rufai and boys. Nobody got time for floor members.”
DoubleEph also queried the move, saying, “So many thoughts going through my head on this bill – for instance, what will be GEJ’s punishment for bringing Facebook to Nigeria?”
“Sending social media critics to jail for seven years? Wow! National Assembly o! Time for union…Union of Social Media Critics…USMC,” screamed Ã’gbóni Olúmîde on Twitter.
Stopcorruption also boarded the critic wagon. He said, “Nigerian Senate obnoxious plan to jail social mediacritics: a dangerous inquisition to the tenets of democracy and good governance.”
A debate has also begun on the BBC Africa Twitter handle as it has also broadcast the threat.

Top 10 Healthy Foods You Should Eat Everyday

Eating healthy is an important part of life. Many of us strive to eat as healthy as possible every day, but are you really consuming the best nutrients for your body?
With so many superfoods available, it’s hard to know which ones offer the most benefits. That’s where we come in.
We’ve compiled a list of 10 foods you should be eating every day. If you don’t consume anything else on a regular basis, do your best to incorporate these foods into your diet:
1. Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds are an easy way to add a big dose of fiber into your diet. They can be purchased in the bulk food area of any grocery store and can be sprinkled over salads, fish or any type of meal or snack. To give you an idea of just how healthy these are, a single tablespoon of ground flaxseed sprinkled over cerea, yogurt or salad provides an easy 2.3 grams of fiber.

2. Beans

The soluble fiber found in beans soaks up cholesterol, allowing your body to dispose of it before it sticks to your artery walls. They’re also proven to be one of the best sources of antioxidants. Beans can be incorporated into your diet in many ways. You can whip up a nice batch of chili with tons of kidney beans, you can serve them fresh or you can work them into a salad.

3. Dark chocolate

Rejoice! You can eat chocolate every day, but just a small piece will do. Opt for varieties made up of over 70 per cent cocoa to take advantage of the polyphenols and flavanoids to help protect your heart from the damage caused by cholesterol.

4. Yogurt

A single serving of yogurt will give you a significant amount calcium for the day. In addition to calcium, most yogurts are a great source of probiotics. Probiotics help protect your stomach against harmful bacterias that could lead to infection or illness. Starting your day off with a cup of yogurt will work wonders for your overall health.

5. Oats

If you’re going to kick your day off with a cup of yogurt, consider adding a spoonful (or two) of oats. Oats have been proven to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, making them a great choice for adults looking to reduce these levels. 1 ½ cups (375 mL) of cooked oatmeal or thee packets of instant oatmeal provide enough beta-glucan to lower blood cholesterol by about five percent and heart attack risk by about 10 percent.

6. Broccoli

Broccoli should be your number one choice when it comes to vegetables. The sulfur compounds found in broccoli which signal our genes to increase production of enzymes and detoxify potentially cancer-causing compounds. Broccoli can be eaten uncooked with a low-fat veggie dip or can be cooked and used a side dish, worked into a salad or incorporated into a casserole. The possibilities are endless.

7. Eggs

Eggs are a great source of high quality protein. They are also known to fill you up, preventing you from snacking on unhealthy mini-meals throughout the day. In addition to these benefits, eggs also help keep your eye health in check. Eating one (or two) eggs in the morning with fresh fruit or whole grain toast is a great way to give your body the nutrients it needs to keep you fuelled throughout the day.

8. Milk

You might already know that milk is rich in bone-building nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D, but it may also help your body use fat for energy instead of storing it. One per cent or skim milk will be great as part of a healthy diet.

9. Mixed Nuts

Mixed nuts are a great source of heart-healthy unsaturated fats. A recent study reveals that adults who consumed nuts on a regular basis were likely to live 2 years longer than their non-nut-eating counterparts. Walnuts and almonds are your best options when it comes to choosing which nuts to eat. Snacking on these tasty products will benefit your health in countless ways.

10. Oranges

Eating one large, fresh orange will give you 100 percent of your daily recommended Vitamin C. Likewise, one cup of 100 percent pure orange juice will do the same. This tasty fruit is also high in fiber and folate, making it one of the best fruits to incorporate into your daily diet.
